In Black Jack, you can

• double down,
• split cards (split pairs),
• take insurance and
• surrender.

How the game of Black Jack works

You and the dealer each start with two cards. The dealer's first card is shown to you. That first card is face-up. The dealer's second card is face down. You cannot see it. It is called the hole card.

You can add cards until you either do not want any more or go over the total of twenty-one.

Then the dealer adds to her two cards until she reaches at least seventeen through twenty-one or goes over the total of twenty-one.
